Here it is again, another pastor talking about money. I know that you must feel like you have heard it all before -- "give, give, give...God wants your money!" I can assure you that is not my message today. As a matter of fact as I am writing this my heart breaks for the number of you that will read it and feel helpless, angry, cynical or indifferent because you feel so overwhelmed by the state of your personal finances. I was hesitant to even publish this blog, because I don’t want to be the one that brings up the feelings of despair that you wrestle with everyday. I certainly don’t want to add new pressure or guilt to your life. However, I believe that you can and will have financial peace when you learn and live out God’s plan for money management. Believe it or not, God’s plan is not just for you to give more, but rather it is for you to manage and control all that you have so that all that you have doesn’t control you!
Over the next twelve months I believe that there is going to be a tidal wave of financial peace in our church. It will come when we all say, “I have had enough! Enough sleepless nights! Enough of the ulcers caused by worry! Enough of the feelings of inadequacy! Enough of feeling like I don’t have a choice! Enough of feeling victimized!” The change will begin when we admit that we are being controlled by our money instead of being in charge of our money. This year CrossLink men will hold their heads high because they are winning the fight and feeling in control. CrossLink women will start to find the security they are longing for! As the spiritual leader of this church, I am tired of watching as men and women sink farther into slavery to their debt and farther away from service to their creator! Join me and let's find and insure financial peace!
Stay tuned and I will share with you some of the things I have learned and am learning on the quest for financial peace in my own life. I will provide you with resources, principals, encouragement and honesty. I am looking for men and women who want to find freedom and are tired of the bondage that they feel. I am looking for people that are willing to do the hard work so that they can give their kids what they need and then some, so that they can live with a margin, so that they can give generously to those in need, so that they can be confident about retirement but most importantly so that they can align themselves with the heart of God!
